Hello Scholars!
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I hope you had a wonderful summer and enjoyed time with your loved ones. I am very excited for the new school year to begin. We have several exciting activities planned for this academic year.
I am Dr. Taylor, and I have been an educator for 16 years in New York and Georgia. This year, I will be your Language Arts teacher on Team 6A. My teaching philosophy is that all students can learn, but individualized instruction is necessary to meet each of your unique needs. I also believe that it’s important to “reach students before you can teach them.” Therefore, my personal goal is to build strong relationships that will foster optimal learning.
First, a little more about me. While this is my fifth year at Henderson Middle School, it is my second tenure at HMS. I began my teaching career in 2005 in New York City Public Schools and originally came to HMS in 2013. I left HMS to pursue some of my deferred dreams, which included traveling throughout Europe, researching middle and high schools in Finland, exploring cultural and educational facilities in Australia and New Zealand, and returning to my homeland, Barbados, to provide professional development to teachers as well as to form a non-profit to support elementary schools there. Additionally, I am a copy editor, and I mentor/coach doctoral students. I love to travel, garden, cook, read, write, dance, listen to just about every genre of music, and explore cultural events in my spare time. I recently began exploring the waterfalls throughout Georgia. I hope to also learn about your interests.
Please remember to check Google Classroom regularly, we will be posting current events, news, pictures, videos, and important updates throughout the year. Please bring a curious mind and a willingness to learn. I am looking forward to an exciting school year of engaging activities and new discoveries.
